How do Plants Make Energy?

Most plants make their own energy in a process called photosynthesis.  For photosynthesis they use carbon dioxide which animals breathe out, sunlight, and water to create food that resembles sugar. This is how photosynthesis works: The green chlorophyll in the plant's leaves absorbs the rays of light from the sun. Then the carbon dioxide that animals and human beings breathe out goes into another part of the leaf called the stomata. The plant then gathers water from it roots. This makes a combination which resembles sugar that plants use for starch, fats, and protein. Oxygen then comes out of the plant's stomata which humans and animals breathe in. During the night, however plants "sleep" and their stomata closes up so during the night plants do not produce food.
