Cloth Experiment

Needed: black cloth, white cloth, yellow cloth, red cloth, and snow

Step One: Layout the assorted colors of cloths on the snow outside and leave them there for a minimum of two hours.

Step Two: Go outside after the minimum two hours have passed and look at the pieces of cloth.

Step Three: Which cloth has sunk in the most, the red, yellow, black, or white?  Which has sunk in the least?

Step Four: The black cloth should have had sunk in the most and the wite cloth the lesst.

Why it Works: This experiment works because darker clothing absorbs more light than lighter clothing.

Fast Fact: Benjamin Franklin conducted the same experiment.
